Where am I supposed to begin?
All of Vivit's "canonical" content (or content that solely relates to the core storyline) can be found linked in the site header, or on my youtube channel "Dovefilm". Watching the animatics in the main playlist is all that's technically required to get into the story, but if you want some extra content, you're always free to check out my tumblrblog.
What's up with the two act structure?
So technically, Vivit's two acts would be an initial story and a sequel, but I felt that created too much of a division between the two. While they're both independent stories with seperate main characters and satisfying arcs, Act 1 ends in a way that I wouldn't call cathartic without knowing how Act 2 ends up. For that reason, I consider them two parts of a continous singular story. However, they two acts have about a 15 year timeskip between them... so they definitely warrant some sort of division. The vocabulary of theatrical acts felt like the most elegant solution.
For that reason, you can't really watch one act without the other, so it's reccomended that you keep track of both. Act 2 isn't finished yet, so please stick around until I have that fully released!
Am I free to make content with these characters?
Please, go for it! Write fanfiction, make edits, do fanart. As long as you don't claim these characters as your own, do whatever you wish with them. I've accepted that putting this story out into the world means people will come away with their own interpretations, and I fully welcome seeing what people do with these characters. I'd also love to see any fan works, so feel free to get my attention on any of my social medias.
What inspired the story's title?
So, Vivit roughly translates to “he lives" It gets across the themes of the story, that even if the androids we follow aren’t "human” by any definition, they’re living, and that’s enough to be worthy.
It actually took me a while to come up with, as I played around with a few working titles before settling on Vivit during Act 1's creation. I knew from the beginning I was going to use some sort of latin based title though. All of the android characters (there were originally a lot more prominent android characters before the cast was tightened) were named with latin names or words, since it’d help hone in the division from humans. Using a similar basis for the title seems like a no-brainer. From there, I was considering the name in relation to the story's larger themes, and with a bit of google searching, Vivit crossed my radar, the rest was history.
